Petition Targets Proposed California Regulations

“As California cannabis manufacturers and organizations advocating on behalf of patients and consumers, we support practical, effective regulation that will encourage innovation and ensure that you as patients retain safe, affordable access to your favorite infused products,” says a new petition regarding the California cannabis industry. The petition addresses four specific regulations that would impact businesses, patients and consumers, and they are as follows:

First, a proposed regulation would ban edibles that contain more than 10mg of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) per serving and 100mg per product. By comparison, some states have limits on alcohol-content, e.g., Arkansas limits the alcohol content in beer to 6.25 percent, but California has no such limit for beer and spirits and a 24 percent limit for wine (the average being 13 percent). Per the petition, “[Some patients require] access to higher potency medications” and “this regulation will establish an unfair financial burden on patients and have no meaningful impact on public safety.”
