High Times (September 25, 2017) A lawsuit set to combat a new Florida law regarding medicinal cannabis licenses might possibly challenge the constitutionality of the state’s rubric—and right injustices against black farmers who wish to obtain it. The lawsuit was filed by Columbus Smith, a farmer and person of color based out of Panama City, Florida, who opines that a subset of the measure is discriminatory against black farmers.

Maine Draft Rules Would Prohibit Smoking, Vaping At Cannabis Clubs (ME – Cannabis Industry)

Ganjapreneur (September 26, 2017) Draft rules for Maine’s forthcoming adult-use program do not provide an exemption to the state’s no-smoking laws, which would force so-called cannabis clubs to only permit consumption of edibles or tinctures, according to a Portland Press Herald report. The rules also wouldn’t allow club licensing until June 2019, one year after the state’s first recreational cannabis retail stores open.

Muhlenberg Township Approves First Of Two Medical Marijuana Dispensaries (AZ – Medical Cannabis)

Berks BIZ (September 25, 2017) A tuxedo shop that was a fixture in Muhlenberg Township for decades will become a medical marijuana dispensary. Township commissioners unanimously approved Harvest Inc.’s plan to retrofit the building at 2701 N. Fifth St. Highway. Jack O’Reilly Tuxedos, which has conducted business at the location for 35 years, is expected to close this week.

Trump Extends Cannabis Protections ‘Til December As Plans For Study, States Remain Hazy

Forbes (September 25, 2017) In his temporary budget-dealing with Democrats, President Trump has agreed to continue a ban on using federal funds to interfere in states’ legal cannabis practices, but as 2018 nears, a government stance is largely still up in the air. Earlier this month, the president and congressional Democratic leaders reached a budget agreement to approve hurricane relief, federal spending, and raising the debt ceiling through the end of the year.
